Public Safety Expo Set In West Haven: Here's What To Know (patch.com) — Families in West Haven can explore fire trucks, safety demos, health screenings, and emergency preparedness resources at a large public safety expo at Savin Rock Park this Saturday. City fire departments, police, health officials, and emergency management will offer hands-on activities, live demonstrations, and information on everything from home sprinklers and car seats to disaster response and 911 communications.

Fire Displaces Person In West Haven (patch.com) — West Haven firefighters from all three districts quickly contained a Campbell Avenue structure fire to the room where it started, but one resident was displaced. The American Red Cross is assisting with immediate needs, recovery information, and comfort kits as the person begins to recover from the incident.

West Haven Man's $500 Bid To Join ISIS Sinks In Stonington; Jail Uprising Plan Also Upended (dailyvoice.com) — A 29-year-old West Haven man has been sentenced in New Haven federal court to more than seven years in prison and lifetime supervised release for attempting to join ISIS. Court records describe years of online extremism, a failed attempt to leave via boat from Stonington, and a later alleged plan for a coordinated jail uprising discovered in his cell.
