• Restaurateur Named West Haven's Hispanic Of The Year (patch.com) — West Haven is honoring longtime resident and Saoco Colombian Restaurant owner Juan Carlos Arbeláez as its 2026 Hispanic American of the Year for his community service and cultural leadership. He'll be recognized at the city's Hispanic Heritage Celebration at City Hall on Oct. 2, with local officials, dignitaries and residents invited to attend.
   

• 2-Alarm Fire Brought Under Control In West Haven: Officials (patch.com) — West Haven officials say a two-alarm structure fire on Saw Mill Road, involving all three city fire districts, has been brought under control around noon. Police had urged drivers to avoid the stretch between Railroad Avenue and Elm Street and to use alternate routes while crews worked the scene.
   

• Connecticut shoreline getting ready for nor'easter (wtnh.com) — West Haven officials are pre-positioning barriers, signs, and emergency crews ahead of a potentially strong nor'easter expected to hit the shoreline this weekend, with plans for possible road closures and basement pumping. Residents are urged to prepare now with flashlights, generators, batteries, and other essentials as shoreline towns brace for flooding, erosion, and power outages.
