West Haven Man Arrested In Carjacking Case: U.S. Attorney

The suspect is the third person arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred in January of 2016.

MERIDEN, CT — A 30-year-old West Haven man was indicted on federal carjacking charges this week in connection with the armed theft of 2015 Volkswagen Passat in Meriden in January of 2016, according to United States Attorney Deirdre M. Daly.

Don Meeker allegedly "used threats of violence" to steal the car from two victims in Meriden. Two New Haven men, Elbert Llorens and Kyle Valentine, previously pleaded guilty for their roles in the same crime and are awaiting sentencing.

Meeker was charged with one count of taking a motor vehicle from a person by force and violence or by intimidation, an offense that carries a maximum prison term of 15 years, according to prosecutors.
