"Folk Music in the 60s: The Coffee House" Comes to Weston

It's part of the Weston Historical Society's "Life in the Sixties" exhibit.

WESTON, CT ---The Weston Historical Society will present “Folk Music in the 60s: The Coffee House,” a panel discussion with live performances and a hootenanny, as part of its "Life in the Sixties" exhibit.

The event will feature four nationally-known folksingers and songwriters and is scheduled for Saturday, May 19th from 7:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. at The Grange, 12 Good Hill Road in Weston.

Roger Kaufman (pictured) of Old School Music Productions will moderate/host. Appearing with Kaufman are composer/singer/radio-host Robin Batteau, composer/singer Rob Carlson, singer/songwriter/activist Jon Gailmor and arranger/singer-songwriter Jeff Southworth. These four musicians have written or played with some of America’s best known performers like Bruce Springsteen, Judy Collins, Graham Nash, and Hall & Oates. They will share the history of American Folk Music, from its deep-seated protest roots to its rich contribution to American music. A traditional hootenanny will wrap up the evening in a re-imagined 60's coffee house setting.

Tickets are for sale in advance at the society's website or at The Grange. Admission is $25 for historical society members, and $30 for non-members. Snacks and beverages will be served.

"Life in the Sixties" exhibit is open to the public on Thursdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. in May and June.
