Take a step back in time as actors portray life during Revolutionary War times at the Redding state park.

On November 7 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. take a step back in time as the park celebrates the 237th Anniversary of the Revolutionary War encampments in Redding.
Actors will recreate army life during the times of the nation’s war for independence. Watch artillery and drill demonstrations, battlefield skirmishes, colonial craftsmen, kids drill instruction, army camp life talks, and Soldiers of Putnam Park Program. Hands-on activities will take place all day.
Suggested donations are requested to support educational programming at the park. The cost is $5 for adults and $2 for children under 12.

The event is sponsored by the Friends and Neighbors of Putnam Park (FANS) and organized by the Brigade of the American Revolution (BAR). The Brigade of the American Revolution is a non-profit living history association dedicated to recreating the life and times of the common soldier of the American War for Independence, 1775-1783. Members represent elements of all the armies then involved: Continental, Militia, British, Loyalist, German, French, Spanish, and Native American forces plus civilian men, women, and children.
According to a release from the CT DEEP, Putnam Memorial State Park is located on the site of the Winter Encampment of General Israel Putnam’s Continental troops from December 1778 - May 1779. The park is dedicated to the role they played in the Revolutionary War in helping secure America’s independence. The Israel Putnam Campground Commission purchased the land in 1888. It then donated the Park to the state in 1954.
