Good afternoon,

Hopefully, we are nearing the end of this uncomfortable heat. I do want to point out that while most of us have been doing what we can to stay out of the heat, many of our town workers have been out on our roads, fields and elsewhere, working hard in truly miserable conditions. If you see them working, please thank them.
One of the most highly anticipated events in Easton is the Volunteer Fireman’s Carnival which begins July 30, and runs through August 3. It is an event not to be missed! There are rides for the kids, great games, food and the ever-popular bingo. Every year the volunteers raffle off a vehicle. This year it is a 2024 jeep. For information or to buy tickets go to https://bit.ly/4cAOPqt. Hope to see you at the carnival!

Daniel Simonelli, Social Services Coordinator and Municipal Agent, is working with local partners to distribute the DataHaven Community-Based Assets and Needs Survey (CBANS) to local residents. HIA is a coalition that formed in 2003 to address the health needs of Greater Bridgeport, which includes Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Milford, Monroe, Stratford, and Trumbull.
The goal of this brief, voluntary survey is to better understand the quality of life and important issues facing people who live in our region. Your valuable input will help guide improvements to programs and services in our area, while helping organizations to understand where to focus their attention and resources. Completing this survey should take you about 5 minutes. All responses are completely anonymous and confidential. If you have any questions, you can email info@ctdatahaven.org.

Connecticut Blood Center, a not-for-profit, independent, community blood center, provides over 65,000 units of blood to over a dozen Connecticut hospitals annually. The Hartford HealthCare network, including local St. Vincent’s Medical Center, receives all of its life-saving red cells, platelets and plasma blood for patients in need from the Connecticut Blood Center. For more information, visit ctblood.org.
BLOOD EMERGENCY: From July 22 – August 12, the Connecticut Blood Center will be in a blood emergency with low supply of blood for Connecticut hospitals. Due to the challenges around blood collections during the summer months, there is an URGENT NEED for more blood donations!

Congratulations to JB Gupta on his 100th birthday! I am still amazed at the longevity of the people of Easton.
There are still plenty of sunflowers in front of SSES. Please take some and thank you to Silverman’s.
At last night’s board of selectman meeting I began with a reiteration of our commitment to civility and to trying to lower the level of vitriol in our discourse. I also made note of the fact that violence of any kind is unacceptable and that our sympathies go out to those killed and injured including the former president. Kristi and Nick were in complete agreement. We had a lengthy and fruitful discussion with Police Chief Doyle about managing traffic and speeding in town. There were also comments about the planning and zoning processes and the zoning board of appeals. There is obviously a lot of misinformation out there so I plan to write a piece for the Courier with the help of our attorneys and zoning chairs to try and clear this up.
Lastly, we all know how wonderful the town we live in is, but yesterday we were on full display on News12 which did a feature on Easton including Silverman’s Farm and Greiser’s Coffee & Market. You can watch it at http://connecticut.news12.com/main-street-connecticut-showcasing-the-bes.... It was a great piece.
Have a great weekend!
Dave
