Obituary: Edward F. "Buzz" Boyd III, 75, of Easton
Ed proudly served as a reservist in the Marines and drilled at Camp Lejeune, NC, and Parris Island, SC.

EASTON, CT — Edward F. Boyd III passed peacefully on August 6th, 2018 at the age of 75.
Beloved husband of 27 years to Lynne Boyd, loving father of James Boyd and his wife Erin of MA, Emily Boyd Hanlon and her husband Jeff of CT, and Matthew Boyd of CA, devoted grandfather of Mackenzie, Madeline, Ellie, Alexis, Lindsay and Brooke, and caring brother to Catharine Lloyd, Charles Boyd, and Cricket Taylor, her daughter Chloe and husband Craig Beckwith.
Ed attended the Loomis Chaffee School in CT, where he excelled both academically and athletically, and was a stalwart defensive end on the undefeated football team. He continued his academic and athletic pursuits at UNC Chapel Hill where he studied business administration, lettered in varsity football, played rugby, was a member of the ATO fraternity, and became a lifelong Tarheel sports fan. Ed, whom family and friends called Buzz or Buzzy, proudly served as a reservist in the Marines and drilled at Camp Lejeune, NC, and Parris Island, SC.

For the majority of his professional career, Ed worked with Girard L. Palmer Inc, a private firm representing Parker White Metal Company. He and his wife Lynne raised their three children. in Gladstone, NJ and then Avon, CT. While living in Gladstone, Ed was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry, sang in the choir, and devoted many volunteer hours.
Buzz's interests beyond family and career centered upon health and fitness, cars, motorcycles, and bikes. Over a span of 50 years, he found a variety of ways to be involved with these passions. He raced motocross, ran countless road races - including a marathon, competed in triathlons and biathlons, was a competitive road and track bike racer for team Schwinn in NJ, and eventually sold and serviced cars for the Crown Automotive Group in NC. Buzz was keen on fixing or tuning anything with a motor. Perhaps, above all, his favorite vehicles were his Porsche Speedster, BSA Lightning Rocket motorcycle, and the Colnago Super bike that he custom built to fit to his 6'4" frame.

Buzz was kind, thoughtful, and always a helpful gentleman. He leaves behind many loving family members, friends, and admirers. A memorial service is planned at Christ Church in Easton, CT for October. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make donations to the NorthEast Cerebrovascular Consortium (NECC).
