Weston Board of Selectmen Announce New Library Director
Karen Tartaka will take over the reins of the Weston Library, following Jane Atkinson's retirement.
It's official. Karen Tatarka will be the 's new director.
On Thursday night, after breaking for executive session, the Weston Board of Selectmen unanimously appointed Tatarka to the position.
Tatarka, who's worked for Auburn and Fordham Universities, will replace Jane Atkinson, who is retiring after more than three decades of service.

"Jane has been an extremely wonderful steward of the library. She's spent many years keeping and growing the library," Selectman David Muller said. "We're at a point in the evolution of the Weston Public Library where Jane's retirement has given us a great opportunity."
Muller said that Tatarka is a "wonderful candidate" who will help move the library into the digital age.

"I'm very pleased to support her," he said.
First Selectman Gayle Weinstein said Tatarka is going to be an "excellent addition" to Weston, as she has a "strong vision for our community."
Tatarka, who currently works as a network assistant at the Wilton Library, thanked the selectmen for what she called an "exciting opportunity."
It will be "a wonderful experience and challenge" to bring the library forward into the 21st century.
"I'm looking forward to it very much," Tatarka said.
