WESTON, CT — A Weston man was sentenced Thursday for hitting and killing a Fairfield tow truck driver in 2020.

A Bridgeport Superior Court judge sentenced Dean Robert, 48, to 10 years in prison, suspended after four and a half years plus five years of probation and a $10,000 fine to the family of the victim, FOX61 has reported.

Iodice's tow truck, owned by Fairfield-based Iodice Family Transport LLC, along with two other vehicles, a 2008 Mercedes and a 2010 Audi, were stopped in the right shoulder on Route 15 southbound just south of Exit 48 according to police. The Mercedes, driven by a Bridgeport man, was disabled and being loaded onto the flatbed portion of the tow truck at the time of the accident, police said.

Robert was driving in the right lane when he lost control of his 2016 BMW, hitting the Mercedes and the Audi, traveling up the truck bed and striking Iodice, who was standing near the flatbed, according to police. The truck then rolled over onto its roof, police said. Iodice was pronounced dead at the scene.
