Weston Sculptor Named to CT Magazine’s 40 Under 40

The Weston artist was the only sculptor selected to this list of high achievers.

WESTON, CT — Jesse Nusbaum, a sculptor known for creating realistic bronze animals, was recently selected by Connecticut Magazine for its 2019 list of 40 Under 40 up-and-comers. The list of nominees in Connecticut Magazine includes CEOs, professional athletes, government leaders, Broadway performers, filmmakers, farmers, singers, artists, chefs, journalists, community activists and entrepreneurs under the age of 40.

“To be included in Connecticut Magazine’s 40 Under 40 is a great honor for me to be recognized for my work, particularly when I consider the accomplishments of the other honorees, all of whom have distinguished themselves at such a young age in their chosen profession,” said Nusbaum.

Nusbaum, 29, was the only sculptor selected to this list of high achievers. He maintains a studio in his hometown of Weston. In November 2017, Nusbaum was inducted into the Silvermine Guild of Artists, one of the youngest artists to become a member of the guild.

Nusbaum has sold a number of pieces to private collectors in the United States and internationally. He has been selected to collaborate with the world-renowned Spanish artist Fernando Cid de Diego to design and to create a sculpture for a proposed new museum dedicated to Martin Luther King Jr. in Atlanta, GA.

In addition to sculpting, Nusbaum has taught drawing, painting and sculpting to public school students in Fairfield County. He continues to conduct private lessons at his studio in Weston and also mentors numerous artists on how to navigate the art world, particularly sculpting.
