Congratulations to Joey Nizzardo who was the first solo swimmer to cross the finish line At Captain’s Cove Seaport in the 2024 Swim Across the Sound Marathon. This is Joey’s second consecutive win. Joey is a student at Fairfield University and participated in honor of his grandfather who is battling multiple myeloma. His winning time for the 15.5-mile swim from Port Jefferson, NY, across Long Island Sound, was 6 hours, 36 minutes.
Hundreds of swimmers and volunteers participated in the 37th annual Swim Across the Sound, including relay swim teams from several universities and Hartford HealthCare hospitals.
