Ira Bloom, of Berchem, Moses & Devlin, P.C., Speaks at Land Use Seminar

WESTPORT, Conn. – Ira W. Bloom, a senior partner with the law firm Berchem, Moses & Devlin, P.C., participated recently on the Connecticut Bar Association Planning and Zoning Section’s seminar panel for municipal land use
officials.

The seminar, held every two years at Wesleyan University, features a group of prominent land use attorneys who summarize the latest developments for municipal commission members and staff. Nearly 300 people attended the event, which took place March 16. Mr. Bloom summarized the latest developments in the area of affordable housing.

Mr. Bloom, who manages the law firm’s Westport office, has practiced in the land use and municipal areas for many years. He has been Town Attorney for Westport since 1998 and Town Attorney for New Canaan since 2012. He also has been serving as counsel to Easton for several years and advises numerous other municipalities and commissions.

A member of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Planning and Zoning Executive Committee, Mr. Bloom is the group’s immediate past chair. He is a member of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Planners Association and previously served on the board of the Connecticut Association of Municipal Attorneys.

In addition, Mr. Bloom has been named to the Connecticut
Super Lawyers® list for a number of years for his work related to land use and zoning. Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of recognition and
professional achievement. The Super Lawyers lists are published annually in Connecticut Magazine.
