Annual Community Shred Day In Westport Sept. 24

Proof of Westport residency is required.

The following announcement is from Westport Town Clerk Jeffrey Dunkerton:

WESTPORT, CT — First Selectwoman Jennifer Tooker announced today that Westport will hold its 13th annual community shred day on Saturday, September 24, 2022, from 9am-12pm, Greens Farms Train Station, 2 Post Office Lane, Westport, CT 06880.

Residents may shred up to eight paper bags (bags recycle too) or three boxes (12 inches by 18 inches) per household. Each car will be charged $10.

“This is an opportunity for Westporters to dispose of personal, confidential and sensitive papers, such as bank statements, cancelled checks, credit card statements, tax records and medical records by watching their papers shredded on-site” said Tooker.

“Document shredding is safe, secure, and confidential. This event helps insure protection against identity theft as well as an opportunity to clean file cabinets of unneeded paper. Our environment also benefits since all material will be recycled.”
