Arrest Made In Westport Jewelry Store Smash-And-Grab Robbery
A pair of thieves smashed display cases and stole jewelry at Lux, Bond & Green on Main Street in Westport earlier this month.

WESTPORT, CT — A 30-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested on a warrant Wednesday, charging him with larceny and related violations in connection with the May 9 smash-and-grab theft at the Lux, Bond & Green jewelry store on Main Street in Westport.
Javon Thorbourne was arrested at Stamford Superior Court, where he was held in cases from other jurisdictions, and was charged with the following:
- First-degree larceny
- Conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny
- First-degree criminal mischief
- Conspiracy to commit first-degree criminal mischief
The incident occurred just after 3 p.m., when Thorbourne and an accomplice used sledgehammers to smash display cases in the store and snatch jewelry. No injuries were reported, as the store's employees fled to the back of the store for safety.

Police said the suspects ran from the store and were last seen fleeing in a black BMW on the Post Road East toward Fairfield.
"Westport Police Detective Bureau worked tirelessly with area Law Enforcement agencies as well as the United States Marshall Service to identify and build a case against Mr. Thorbourne," said Westport Police Lt. Eric Woods in a statement.

Details of how Thorbourne was developed into a suspect were not disclosed, but Westport police detectives continue to investigate the case; additional arrests are expected in the future.
"When people come into Westport with criminal activity as their intent, we will work tirelessly until arrests are made," said Westport Police Chief Foti Koskinas, who thanked the detective bureau and area law enforcement agencies for their assistance.
Thorbourne was held in lieu of bail of $250,000, and is scheduled to be arraigned at Stamford Superior Court on Wednesday.
