Original Story
At 10:25 a.m. CL&P reported 3,629 homes in Westport still have no power as a result of Hurricane Irene.
"We don’t know when full power will be available. We hope it is only days," First Selectman Joseloff said in a press release Tuesday.
Joseloff listed the following necessary information in the press release:
"CL&P asks if you are without power, please call 1 800 286-2000 to tell them, even if you have called previously. Do not assume they know.
All Westport beaches are closed to swimming because of high bacteria counts but otherwise open. Longshore is open for golf and tennis. The pool is closed but we are working to get it open as soon as possible.
has a garden hose available for bulk fill up of water but please bring your own containers. Emergency charging for medical equipment only is available 24 hours a day at police headquarters.
Do not run generators in enclosed places such as garages or porches because of the danger of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Finally, we are getting a lot of calls saying people are not seeing CL&P trucks on roadways. Believe me, they are out there. They may not say CL&P, and they may not be yellow. But believe me they are out there.
And CL&P told us they are flying in crews from as far away as Seattle, Washington.
In sum, we are doing the best we can and appreciate your continued patience and understanding."
