Controversial Westport Apartment Complex Draws Ire of RTM

An effort has been launched to overturn the structure's approval.

WESTPORT, CT — Several members of the Westport Representative Town Meeting have launched an effort to overturn the recent approval of a large apartment complex at the former Kowalsky property on the Post Road East, reports the Westport News.

The planned housing development, located at 1177 Post Road, calls for the construction of 94 units, just over 30 percent of which would be designated as affordable to satisfy the controversial state 8-30g regulations.

Several residents of the town's Greens Farms section object to the development, which they say is out of character for the area. Eight members of the RTM, led by District 5's John Suggs, have filed a petition to review the Planning and Zoning Commission's approval.
