Drug Charge for Suspect after Westport Police K-9 Search: Cops

WESTPORT, CT — A 20-year-old Norwalk man was arrested on a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance on Monday after a motor vehicle stop and police K-9 search in Westport, according to the department.

Samuel LeBlanc was pulled over at about 12:30 a.m. after Westport Police Off. Rachel Baron allegedly saw him driving west on the Post Road East in the middle of two lanes near Ludlow Road.

"While approaching the vehicle, Officer Baron could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle," wrote police in a statement. "Based on the Officer’s observations, she requested K-9 Officer Scinto to respond to the scene. Officer Scinto deployed K-9 Atlas to search the vehicle. K-9 Atlas located a small container of marijuana, a grinder, and a one-hitter cigarette in a back pack. The trunk contained another backpack which contained a large pink plastic container of a leafy green substance believed to be marijuana, a container filled with Butane Honey Oil, and 1 THC candy bar (label stated 76.16mg THC). The weight of all Marijuana was approximately 1.5 Oz."

LeBlanc allegedly admitted to police that all the recovered items belonged to him. He was released after posting a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Feb. 21.
