WESTPORT, CT — Matsu Sushi, the Westport restaurant that was the focus of a protest this year, is currently closed after violating state sales tax regulations, reports The Hour. The Jesup Road restaurant's sales and use tax permit was suspended by the state for unspecified reasons earlier this month, the second time it has been closed this year. Such a suspension prohibits any sales to go forward at the business.

In August, fired workers Jianming Jiang and Liguo Ding, who had both at the Japanese restaurant for more than a decade, called for patrons to boycott the business because they said it had cheated them out of payment.

For its part, the restaurant's owners said they would fight against the former employees' labor dispute, because they believed it was based on a business dispute and not an employment issue.
