Family YMCA Adds Full-day Option for Hafaday Swim Lesson Program for Kids Ages 4-9
New, Full-day Sessions of Hafaday Swim Lesson Program Begin July 13, in Addition to the Half-day Option
The Westport Weston Family YMCA is introducing a full-day option for its popular Hafaday Swim Lesson Program for children ages 4-9.
Taking place each weekday from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, the Family YMCA’s Hafaday Swim Lesson Program has long been our community’s go-to resource for teaching local children ages 4-9 how to swim and be safe around water.
Starting with the weekly program beginning Monday, July 13, Hafaday campers will be able to add an afternoon session, extending their day at the Y to 3:30 pm.

Children who choose the afternoon option will start with an al fresco lunch, followed by outdoor water games and play time at the Family YMCA’s Camp Mahackeno facility, adjacent to the Family YMCA’s Bedford Family Center.
“Hafaday has always been a great summer program for local families, whether they are YMCA members or not,” says Nicole Turechek, Aquatics Director. “And our new Y is proving to be a wonderful setting, with our shallow warm-water pool, bright new gymnasium and outdoor play spaces. The kids are having a ball!”

Offered in 10 weekly sessions throughout the summer as well as school holidays, Hafaday gives children a daily swim lesson and free swim, plus arts/crafts and gym time, with a snack in between. It is a great program where the kids can meet new friends, bond with their counselors and strengthen their swim skills.
“Over the years, we’ve had many requests from parents for a ‘whole’ Hafaday, and with our Mahackeno campus now right outside our back door, we’re able to offer Hafaday families that option,” Turechek adds.
The pricing for weekly sessions of Hafaday for YMCA members is $270; $370 for the full-day option. For non-members, the price is $310; $435 for the full-day option. Hafaday continues through the week of Aug. 17. (Though the June sessions of Hafaday were full, space remains in July and August sessions.) Please note that all full-day participants must also register for the morning session and must submit a valid physical prior to starting.
