Westport Drum Lessons by Jimmy Lane

Jimmy Lane is a drummer, teacher and the founder of Westport Drum Lessons. He began taking drum lessons at age 12 and has been actively playing, teaching (and learning!) ever since. In 1995, He began teaching at Merritt Music of New Canaan CT.  Demand grew rapidly, and soon private drum lessons were made available in Westport, and has expanded throughout southern Connecticut into Southport, Fairfield, Weston, Wilton, Norwalk, Redding, and New Canaan. Was  Jim manages to maintain a roster of between 30-40 steady drum students per week with unmatched longevity and loyalty.  "I must be the luckiest person ever." Jim explains: "To be able to share music ideas with these wonderful, interested and aspiring drummers. - Where can you find better company than that? It's a real privilege for me”.  Jim learned the basics from college professor Ray Alexander, who studied with Henry Adler, who was known as the premier drum teacher of the New York scene for the last 55 years. Mr. Adler was well known in the drumming industry as the teacher who was responsible for assisting musically and professionally - the greatest drummer of ALL times: the world famous - Buddy Rich. - The two collaborated on writing the classic and timeless drum method book "Buddy Rich's Snare Drum Rudiments", which is an integral part of Jim's drumming curriculum. There is no substitute for the right fundamental foundation. The students who work with Jim know that they have found the "main vein" of learning the drums. And it is exciting to know that they can trace their roots back to the great Mr. Buddy Rich himself... Jim is pupil-oriented instructor, able to teach beginners, novices, and experts by truly connecting with student at their level, and provide the right focus, insight, and attention that makes drum lessons have much deeper value and meaning. He keeps pupils engaged, inspired and constantly learning: the guiding principle. Jim’s students say it best by showing continued loyalty year after year. Some enjoying their drum studies as long as 11 years. The crash occurred just after 7 a.m. The extricated driver was treated for injuries at Westport EMS; the driver and passenger of the other vehicle were evaluated at the scene by EMS.In addition to Westport police, fire personnel from Engine 5, Engine 2, Rescue 3 and the Shift Commander all responded.

Swim Across America, the nonprofit organization that makes waves to fight cancer by holding charity swims across the nation, will host its 20th annual Swim Across America – Fairfield County open water swim on Saturday, June 20 2026, in Dolphin Cove in Stamford, Connecticut, at 96 Cummings Point Road, on the Greenwich/Stamford border. The event welcomes swimmers of all ages and skill levels to help make waves to fight cancer, with proceeds benefitting Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy (ACGT), headquartered in Stamford, and the nation’s only nonprofit dedicated to funding cancer cell and gene therapy. Participants may choose from a 1/2-mile, 1.5-mile, or 3-mile swim course, and children ages 11-years-old and younger can participate in a fun Kids’ Splash along the shore, as well as enjoy other Kids’ Splash zone activities like face painting, tattoos, arts and crafts, and a visit by Dash the Dolphin, Swim Across America’s mascot. There is also a “SAA My Way,” virtual option for those who are unable to participate in-person on June 20th. 80th Fairfield Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Dinner 

This year's event is scheduled for Sunday, June 28th, at 11:00 a.m. and includes vendors, dog-centric activities, entertainment, giveaways, and more. The free event is a full family day event, for all ages.
This lively outdoor festivals brings together dog lovers, local businesses, and animal advocates to celebrate our Fairfield community, and pamper our four-legged best friends. 
"It's a wonderful event for the community with activities for kids and adults, and allows Adopt-A-Dog to show off some of our adorable adoptables! We look forward to having positive and fun days and hope to recruit some new foster families as well". 
Vendor Applications Open. Vendors who are interested in reserving a tent space (10’x10’) for the Fairfield event can reserve their spot on the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce website (FairfieldCTChamber.com) or contact Katelyn Thaler, (<a href="mailto:Katelyn@FairfieldCTChamber.com">Katelyn@FairfieldCTChamber.com</a>) or call: 203-255-1011.Details to be announced soon!
"The Fairfield event draws over 1,500 people, and although its theme is dogs, attendees are also interested in looking at, or purchasing, other kinds of products as well," said Beverly Balaz, President of the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce. She continued, "This is one of Fairfield’s bigger community events! Vendor tent spots are limited, so we encourage vendors to register early!”Attendees can expect a packed lineup of fun, interactive, and family-friendly activities, including: Dog Lovers Lure Coursing, Face Painting, Caricature Artist, Pet Pantry Bone Bar, Ice Cream Pawlour, Sniffari, Food Trucks, Splash Park, and more.
