Fourth Arrest Made In Westport Uber Eats Driver Assault Case: PD
Police said a fourth person has been arrested in connection to a car theft in Westport, during which an Uber Eats driver was badly injured.
WESTPORT, CT — A fourth person was arrested Friday morning in connection to a car theft in Westport on March 5, during which an Uber Eats driver was was seriously injured, according to police.
In a news release, Police Lt. Anthony Prezioso said Tayvion Hart, 18, of New Haven, is believed to be the person who was driving the white Hyundai the night it was stolen.
Prezioso noted the arrest was a collaborative effort between the Westport, Bridgeport, New Haven and Hamden police departments, as well as the Bridgeport Regional Auto Theft Task Force and the New Haven Office of the United States Marshals Service.

Hart currently has an outstanding unrelated warrant for his arrest prepared by New Haven police and will be processed on those charges first, Prezioso said. He will then be turned over to Westport police and charged first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, first-degreeassault on an elderly person, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault on an elderly person, first-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny.
His bond was set at $250,000, Prezioso said.

Prezioso noted no additional arrests are anticipated in this case, however the investigation is still active.
Police Chief Foti Koskinas thanked all involved who helped bring closure to the case but also reminded the community to be vigilant.
"What initially began as individuals targeting unlocked vehicles in the overnight hours has evolved into the theft of unattended vehicles at all times of day and night, in some cases by way of force," Koskinas said in a news release. "We ask that you please remember to always lock your vehicle and take your keys with you, no matter what the circumstances."
According to police, the 64-year-old Uber Eats driver suffered a head injury after her car was stolen from a Post Road East parking lot Saturday night.

In a news release, Police Lt. Dave Wolf said officers determined the woman was picking up an order from Golden Pizza when she noticed a person enter her unlocked car while she was inside the restaurant.
As she tried to intervene, the woman suffered a head injury and was taken to Norwalk Hospital for treatment, Wolf said. An 18-year-old man and two juveniles were later arrested on charges in connection to the incident following a car chase along Interstate 95 that ended in Bridgeport.
A GoFundMe campaign was later launched to raise money for the injured driver. As of Friday afternoon, the campaign has raised over $30,000 toward a $50,000 goal thanks to over 350 donations.

In an update posted to the GoFundMe page Tuesday, the campaign's organizer, Danielle Dobin, said she was informed by a family member of the driver that her injuries were severe enough that she will be in a wheelchair for six weeks once she is released from the hospital.
