Fourth of July Fireworks & Independence Day Celebrations: Fairfield County CT

Note: If you are marching in a parade, line-up is usually about 1/2 hour before the start of the parade.

June 27


Barnum Festival
Fireworks begin at 9:00 pm at Seaside Park in Bridgeport. 

 

June 28


Bridgeport, Bridgeport Bluefish Fireworks Extravaganza
Come out and experience a special Independence Day Fireworks Extravaganza at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Watch the Bluefish light up the opposition before they light up the skies, as all fans will be treated to this fireworks show following the game. Game starts at 6:05. 


Danbury, Candlewood Park Fireworks:
Annual Fireworks at Candlewood Lake, Danbury Bay  are scheduled for June 28th with rain date on June 29th. Fireworks start at dusk.


July 3rd


Danbury, Danbury Fair Mall fireworks
Annual Fireworks Celebration - July 3rd (rain date July 5th) Bands & Entertainment start at 6pm featuring local favorites - 'Fast Ricky' from 6-7:30pm and 'The Zoo' 8-10pm.  Don't miss out on fun inflatables provided by Durants Tents & Events. And much more!

During the fireworks show 'The Zoo' will perform LIVE. Tune into I95FM to hear the the show LIVE!


Naugatuck
This year’s celebration will begin at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 3th on Old Firehouse Road, downtown Naugatuck, and will include entertainment, food, and a variety of family oriented activities. The evening will be culminated by a giant fireworks display at 9:15 P.M. Rain date is Saturday, July 5, 2014. 


New Britain, Rock Cats Baseball
4th of July Celebration with the Rock Cats, on July 3rd, means great baseball and spectacular post-gamefireworks!  Family 4 Packs which include 4 game tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 waters and 4 popcorns are $40.  Game time is 7:05 pm


Norwalk 
THURSDAY, JULY 3, 2014, (raindate: July 5) Fireworks & Entertainment for All Ages. SHOWMOBILE at CALF PASTURE BEACH: 5:30 pm … The Amazing Andy Show (family fun). SHADY BEACH: 6:00 pm … Dance to the Music with DJ Nuzzo. 8:00 pm … Jimmy & The Parrots -- #1 Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band performance continues after Fireworks. 


Shelton
There is a concert before the fireworks by The Glamour Girls that begins at 7:00 and fireworks to follow at dark. Rain Date July 5th. Riverwalk-Veterans Park.


Stratford
The Town’s Annual Fireworks Display will be Wednesday July 3 at Short Beach Park.  The rain date is July 5.  A concert will be on the Deck near the concession stand at 7:00pm. The Fireworks Display will be at 9:30pm.   Parking will be available within Short Beach Park and at the south parking lot of the Stratford Army Engine Plant.  Handicapped Parking is available at the Golf Course Parking Lot.  Bathrooms will be available at the Concession Stand, Picnic Area, Ballfields, and at the Golf Course.  The Concession Stand will be open.  The EMS will patrol the park and will have their control center in the parking lot of the Golf Course.


Stamford
 
The City of Stamford’s 2014 Fireworks event will be held on Thursday, July 3 at 9:00 p.m. at Cummings Park. Entertainment will begin at 6pm. 


Westport
The Westport Police Athletic League (PAL) and the Westport Parks and Recreation Department will be holding the annual Independence Day Fireworks Celebration on Thursday, July 3 at Compo Beach.

Parking tickets are required for entrance for a fee and are usually available one month prior to the event. information and check back to our website for updates. Ticket sales will begin on June 1, 2014 and can be purchased at the Westport Police Department at 50 Jesup Road and at the Westport Parks and Recreation office at 260 Compo Road South in Westport. Tickets sales are limited and are on a first come first serve basis. Firework tickets are $35 per car and once tickets are sold out shuttle passes will be available.

Rain date for the event is on Monday July 7, 2014.


July 4


Bethany
Come celebrate with us at our annual festival celebrating our nation’s independence on the Fourth of July. Each year, the festival draws nearly 20,000 people to our great city to spend the day at Eldon Lyon Park and take part in the festivities.

Pony rides, inflatables, and the returning Wagner’s Carnival will entertain the kiddos while the adults can look forward to festival food, a car show, and shopping.

Everyone will love the concert featuring the Chris Henson Band. The state’s finest fireworks display will bring the evening to a close.


Bethel
The Annual Firecracker 8K Road Race and Kids Mini Cracker Race kick off at 8 am.  Kids ages 3 - 9 will have a blast at the Mini Cracker and registration is only $5.  Ages 10 and older can enter the 8K and registration is $25.  Both races benefit the Scotty Fund.


Bristol, Lake Compounce
July 4 is an important day for our nation and Lake Compounce is joining in on the celebration! Stop in for a great day with your family and watch the firework celebrations around 9pm!  So come over, cool off, and enjoy a spectacular firework show on July 4th at The Lake!


Fairfield
Fireworks explode just after dark, usually around 9:15 PM, from a barge off of Long Island Sound so the show can be seen easily from either Penfield or Jennings Beaches.
Beach Parking Permits are not required and parking is free after 6:00 PM at both the Penfield and Jennings parking lots but they do fill up early.  Jennings has more ample parking.

Kent, Eric Sloane Museum
Celebrate Independence Day with a traditional bell ringing ceremony at 2 p.m. Eric Sloane, an enthusiast patriot, believed that church and public bells should ring for four minutes at 2 p.m. to mark the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Ceremony is free. Patriotic-themed hands-on activity for children included with museum admission. Information: http://www.cultureandtourism.org

Madison - Parade
Featuring nearly 100 community groups, floats, bands, clowns, antique cars, trucks, bicycles and a number of professional performance groups, Madison’s 4th of July Parade is recognized as one of the finest in the entire State of Connecticut.  

Because of the large numbers that are anticipated, it’s recommended that everyone arrive as early as possible to select your preferred vantage point: The Parade route starts at 11 AM in the Super Stop and Shop parking lot, winds through the center of Madison, and concludes at the Surf Club.


Madison - Fireworks
Friday, July 4, 2014 - 9:30pm  (Rain Date:  Sunday, July 6, 2014 - 9:30pm)  The fireworks are visible from many waterfront areas in Madison.  The main public viewing locations are from Surf Club Park, East Wharf Beach and West Wharf Beach.  Parking will be very limited at parks and beaches, on public streets, and in all waterfront viewing areas.  Please obey all Madison Police Department signs and instructions for parking.  Use of the free shuttle bus service is encouraged.


Middlebury, Quassy Amusement Park
'3D' Fireworks - Have a blast this July 4th at the Quassy special '3D' fireworks presentation after dark to benefit Prevent Blindness Tri-State. Viewing glasses will be sold for $1. Parking $7 on July 4th.


Mystic, Mystic Seaport
Celebrate July 4th on the waterfront of Mystic Seaport. Activities include a noontime picnic on the Village Green, a children’s parade through the Mystic Seaport village at 1 p.m., an 1876 Independence Day Ceremony, and a concert by the Silver Cornet Band. Time : 9 a.m.-5 p.m.


New Britain
The Great American Boom!  The Recreation Department will have an entire fleet of attractions set up for the public’s enjoyment. The fleet consists of the giant trampolines, carnival games, interactive inflatables, pony rides, micro derby car races, along with other attractions.  A $5 wristband will need to be purchased. There will also be a family 4 pack for $15, which will allow for unlimited access to all the attractions and the petting zoo from 5 p.m.- 8:30 p.m.   Additionally, clowns will be roaming the park performing magic and creating balloon animals along with a variety of face painters and an artist doing caricatures.

For everyone’s delectable enjoyment the largest array of food vendors in the history of the Great American Boom will be selling a variety of special treats including: hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages, steak and cheese grinders, fried shrimp, fried clams, buffalo wings, thai food, fried dough, funnel cakes, fried desserts, Italian ice, kettle korn, ice cream, non-alcoholic pina coladas, slushies and more. Fireworks at 9:15 


New Canaan Family Fourth Celebration
July 4 @ 5:00 pm - 10:00 pmThis year’s New Canaan July 4th celebration will be held on Friday, July 4th at Waveny Park.

The New Canaan “Family Fourth” is always one of the premier events in town. Activities include picnicking, live music, food & drink stands… and of course, tons of fireworks!

The town will mail out ticket applications in May/June or you can purchase online from the town website (when tickets become available).


New Fairfield
The Annual Independence Day Parade sponsored by the New Fairfield Lions Club will be on Friday, July 4, 2014 at 9:30 am. We invite you to participate in this longstanding New Fairfield tradition honoring our country. Ask your family and friends to attend and join in our celebration to show our support for those who have defended our freedom in the past as well as the present.

The parade will follow its traditional route to Memorial field where the ceremonies will be conducted and refreshments will follow. A bus will provide transportation from the Board of Education building, across from town hall, to the beginning of the parade route. The bus will begin making trips to Overbrook beginning at 7:30am.

 We highly encourage ALL groups to use the bus or walk to Overbrook.


Ridgefield Family Fireworks
The Family Fourth’s fireworks are planned for Friday, July 4, at Ridgefield High School, with picnicking starting at 6 p.m. on the high school’s upper and lower fields. The pyrotechnics will come shortly after dusk. The rain date is Saturday, July 5.

Parking passes for the July 4 fireworks will be $20 per car for lots at the high school and also the Barlow Mountain and Scotland School lots.

Fourth of July fireworks parking passes are available at town hall on Main Street, the Chamber of Commerce on Bailey Avenue, and from main sponsor Fairfield County Bank’s branches at 374 Main Street, 150 Danbury Road, and in the Georgetown branch at 941 Danbury Road in Wilton.

Parking passes may be paid for by cash or check. The money will not be refunded if the event is canceled due to bad weather on both nights.



Ridgefield Sand Castle Contest
Happy 4th of July!  The Recreation Center is closed, but you and your family can enjoy Martin Park Beach for free (entry with Recreation Center ID cards).  People of all ages are invited to enter in our free Sand Castle Building Contest.  Creations will be judged at 3:30 pm.  Good luck!


Rowayton
Rowayton Fireworks will light up the sky offshore from Bayley Beach Friday evening, July 4th (rain date July 5th). The fireworks, sponsored by the RCA, will be launched from a barge beginning at 9:15pm. The performance will last approximately 30 minutes. Rye (NY) Playland 
A spectacular fireworks show choreographed to music.  The July 4th Celebration is at 9:30 p.m.  Plus, they have fireworks every Wednesday and Friday in July and August at 9:15 p.m.


Stonington - 4th of July Parade and Reading of the Declaration of Independence
The town of Stonington will hold a Fourth of July celebration at 9:30 a.m. July 4 at Wadawanuck Square in front of the Stonington Free Library, 20 High St. After the parade, hear the Declaration of Independenceand invoke, as always, a pox on King George!


Weston
Weston Middle School Field: Gates Open at 4:30 pm, No entry from Lords Highway after 7:00 PM. School Road and Route 57 only!  Please arrive prior to 8:00 PM and avoid the fireworks traffic rush!

The Parks & Recreation Department will be selling 4th of July Booster Parking Passes.  Those vehicles without the booster pass will be charged a fee of $20.00 per vehicle the night of the event. All monies collected go to offset the evening’s cost. By becoming a 4th of July Booster, you will receive a guaranteed parking pass to your choice of lots adjacent to the concert and fireworks area. Spaces are limited and passes are issued on a first come, first serve basis.


July 5


New Milford:
 
Fourth of July Celebrations to be held July 5 /rain date July 6. Fireworks display at dusk July 5 launched from the Fort Hill area. The Woman's Club will be constructing and serving a giant cake. The Lions Club Carnival at Young's Field runs July 3-4 from 6-10 p.m. & July 5 from 5-10 p.m. Ride Tickets $1 or Book of 28 for $25.

Wallingford
This year's fireworks will begin at 9:15 at Sheean High School.


Greenwich
Greenwich Point Park: Anyone wishing to attend the Greenwich Point display must remember that the rules for Greenwich Point access will be the same as usual on the day of the fireworks. The Point will be closed when the maximum number of cars for the available parking spaces has been achieved.  Greenwich Point will be closed to vehicular traffic at 8:30 pm, even if the parking capacity has not been reached.  

Spectators at Greenwich Point will be entertained by a disc jockey stationed near the South Concession area starting at 7:00 pm.  The fireworks display will be fired from the corner of Greenwich Point (Bluff Point), well beyond the South Concession Stand.  

There will be many areas at Greenwich Point, including the main beach, which will offer exciting views of the dazzling colors that fill the sky.  Spectators in boats will enjoy great views from Long Island Sound around the Point.   Raindate July 6th.

Binney Park
The Binney Park fireworks display will feature the Sound Beach Community Band.  They will begin performing at 7:30 pm.  They will be located on the Showmobile and this year in the area of Binney Park near the flag pole near Sound Beach Avenue.  In addition, grills, cooking and open fires will be prohibited in Binney Park. Raindate July 6th.
