Here's Why Westport Police Will Be Wearing Pink Patches All Month

For the month of October, officers will work to help spread awareness and bring attention to the fight against breast cancer.

WESTPORT, CT — For the month of October, the Westport Police Department will be taking part in the Pink Patch Project. All month long, officers will be wearing uniform shirts with a pink patch to help spread awareness and bring attention to the fight against breast cancer.

"The Westport Police Department is proud to be a member of the Pink Patch Project for 2018," Lieutenant Jillian Cabana said in a news release. "Wearing pink patches on our uniform is intended to stimulate conversations with the community during our daily contacts with them and to encourage discussion with the public."

The newly designed patches are part of an innovative campaign comprised of over 2,675 other public safety agencies nationwide. The campaign aims to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support breast cancer research organizations in combating the devastating disease.
