Man Accused Of Stealing $1,200 TV Arrested: Westport PD

WESTPORT, CT – Police said a 35-year-old Bridgeport man accused of stealing a television off the wall of an under construction Westport home was arrested Friday. He is charged with burglary, criminal mischief and larceny, police said.

According to a news release, officers responded on Aug. 28 to a report of a residential burglary of a home under construction, during which a 65-inch television and Samsung sound bar were stolen from the wall. The incident resulted in approximately $1,000 worth of damage to the wall where the television was mounted, police said.

The approximate value of the television was $1,200, according to police. Detectives responded to the scene and processed the home and evidence for fingerprints and DNA.

"Fingerprints found at the scene and investigation by Westport detectives identified the suspect as Daniel Cabrera-Otero of Bridgeport," Lieutenant Jillian Cabana said in a release. "An arrest warrant application was submitted and later approved."

On Friday, the accused was located by Westport detectives on Soundview Avenue in Bridgeport. He was taken into custody and brought to Westport headquarters.
