Suspect Accused Of $89,000 Bank Fraud In Westport: Police (patch.com) — Westport residents are learning more about a major bank fraud case after police charged a Brooklyn man with stealing $89,000 through an in‑person wire transfer conducted while allegedly posing as a local account holder. Detectives say the suspect carried out the transaction at an M&T Bank branch in New York, was later picked up in New Jersey on unrelated matters, and has now been extradited to Connecticut, where he faces larceny and identity theft charges tied to Westport.

RTM committees ponder temporary Jesup Road bridge (westportjournal.com) — Westport officials are weighing a temporary pre-fabricated bridge for Jesup Road while moving ahead with $172,500 in design and permitting for a full replacement after September's storm damage. With police, EMS, and the Westport Library all on Jesup Road, RTM committees and Public Works are scrambling to manage traffic, signage, and long-term construction that could last 12 to 18 months.

4. The Dogs Are Coming! The Dogs Are Coming! Thursday, October 1st. Compo Beach Becomes A Dog's Playground Again (westportlocal.com) — Starting today, Compo Beach once again welcomes dogs, but Westport officials are stressing that leashes are required everywhere except the designated off-leash area south of the pavilion, and owners must pick up after their pets or face fines. Dogs remain banned from the pavilion, playgrounds, walkways, town athletic fields and all of Luciano Park to protect safety and field conditions.
