Police Identify Man Whose Body Washed Ashore In Westport: PD
Police said they have identified the man whose body washed ashore last week in Westport.
WESTPORT, CT — Police said Tuesday they have identified the man whose body washed ashore Friday morning on Harbor Road in Westport.
According to a news release, police said the man has been identified through fingerprint examination as Gregory Garoffolo, 60, of Westport.
Police said investigators learned that Garoffolo’s vehicle had been located on the Interstate 95 Saugatuck River overpass early Friday morning, and was subsequently towed by state police.

"According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, he sustained injuries consistent with a fall and drowning," Lieutenant Jillian Cabana said in a release. "Garoffolo’s death is not being treated as suspicious."
On Friday, a resident contacted police around 8:40 a.m. to report the sighting on Harbor Road in Saugatuck Shores.
