Suspect Accused Of Stealing Cosmetics From Westport Store: Police

The suspect is accused of shoplifting from Ulta Beauty on the Post Road East in Westport.

WESTPORT, CT — A 32-year-old Bristol woman was arrested on a warrant over the weekend in connection with the theft of cosmetics this past January from Ulta Beauty on the Post Road East in Westport, according to police.

Cardia Powell was charged with third-degree larceny in connection with the Jan. 19 shoplifting incident.

"The employees at Ulta recognized the suspect as Cardia Powell, as she has been the suspect in numerous thefts from the business, and their Corporate Offices had alerted their local stores to her involvement in these thefts," Westport police said in a statement. "The investigating officer reviewed surveillance footage, which shows Ms. Powell and an unidentified accomplice allegedly placing items in a bag and leaving without paying for them."

Police did not disclose the value of the stolen items, but the charge is a felony, and is for items worth at least $1,000.

Powell was arrested on Sunday, and was released after posting bond on bail of $25,000. She was scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Wednesday.
