Suspect In Violent Westport Carjacking Pleads Guilty: Report
Vincys Baez is one of four men arrested in connection with the case, which made national news.

WESTPORT, CT — Vincys Baez, one of four men arrested in connection with a September 2023 carjacking in Westport, pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges related to the violent incident, CT Insider reported.
Baez, a 20-year-old Waterbury resident, pleaded guilty to the following:
- Second-degree robbery by carjacking
- First-degree burglary
- Conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny
- Third-degree assault
Under a plea deal, the charges were reportedly reduced from the ones for which Baez was originally arrested, which included home invasion, first-degree robbery, reckless endangerment and first-degree larceny. He faces more than eight years in prison.

Baez was separately charged in connection with a stolen car from Church Lane in Westport that he allegedly used in the carjacking.
The carjacking incident, much of which was captured on surveillance video, shocked the community, and led to a Town Hall meeting where police urged residents to be vigilant.

In the video, a Westport resident is seen being dragged out of his Aston Martin convertible and beaten in his garage, before the thieves drive off in the vehicle.
