Sustainable Westport and Local Partners Launch Your Yard, Our Climate

Sustainable Westport is proud to announce the launch of its newest community initiative, Your Yard, Our Climate, created in collaboration with a coalition of local partners. This program invites Westport residents to reimagine their outdoor spaces as powerful tools in the fight against climate change — demonstrating that meaningful environmental progress can start right at home.

From April through June 2025, Your Yard, Our Climate will feature a series of engaging events and educational programs designed to help residents transform their yards into vibrant, climate-positive habitats. Led by local experts, we will explore practical, impactful ways to rethink lawns, support pollinators, choose native plantings, and adopt sustainable landscaping practices — no matter the size of the property.

The initiative emphasizes the significant role that personal choices in our outdoor spaces play in addressing the climate crisis. Whether it’s planting trees that improve air quality, reducing lawn space to support biodiversity, or shifting to eco-friendly yard care practices, each action contributes to a healthier, more climate-friendly Westport — and planet.

Residents are encouraged to take part in the full lineup of events this spring and discover how small changes in their own backyards can have a big impact. With the support of our program partners, Your Yard, Our Climate aims to inspire lasting change by showing that the future of our climate is rooted in the actions we take today.
