Three Westport Employees Being Honored for Saving Co-worker's Life

The three will be honored at the Red Cross Community Heroes Breakfast.

Three Town of Westport workers are being honored at the annual American Red Cross Community Heroes Breakfast after they saved the life of a co-worker who had a heart attack.

Joseph Bairaktaris, Jr., and David Ellis were working the main gate at the Ned Dimes Marina on Compo Beach May 31, 2014 when co-worker “Doc” Kashka suffered a heart attack near the basketball courts, according to a Red Cross release. The two ran back to the court to see Kashka on the ground

Fellow co-worker Ian Chasnow was already giving Kashka chest compressions and Bairaktaris took over to give Chasnow a break.
