Westport Election Results: Tooker 'Grateful' To Declare Victory

Westport selectwoman Jennifer Tooker has declared victory in the race for the town's new first selectman, according to unofficial results.

WESTPORT, CT — Republican selectwoman Jennifer Tooker has declared victory over Democratic challenger Jonathan Steinberg in the race for Westport's new first selectman, according to unofficial results.

Tooker announced the news on Facebook around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night alongside Republican candidate Andrea Moore, who declared victory in the race for selectwoman, according to unofficial results.

"Today we made history," the post reads, "and we couldn't be more grateful for everyone’s support and confidence in us. From the bottom of our hearts - THANK YOU!!!"

In a joint statement on their campaign's Facebook page, Steinberg and Democratic selectman candidate Candice Savin thanked everyone who supported them over the past six months.

"We are so grateful to all of you who volunteered, hosted events and contributed to our campaign," the post reads. "Regardless of the outcome we are still committed to making Westport better than ever."

Republican First Selectman Jim Marpe announced earlier this year he would not seek re-election this fall. Libertarians TJ Elgin and Louis D'Onofrio Jr. were also in the running for first selectman and selectman, respectively, this year.

Results had not be released in a number of other local races as of midnight.

The Democratic candidates for the Board of Finance are Brian Stern and Lee Caney. Michael Keller is the Republican candidate.

For the Board of Education, the candidates are Democrats Kevin Christie and Christina Torres and Republcians Robert Harrington and Dorie Hordon.

The candidates for the Board of Assessment Appeals are Democrats Ifeseyi Gayle and Lynette Pineda and Republican Joseph Sledge.

For the Planning and Zoning Commission, the candidates are Democrats Danielle Dobin, Michael Cammeyer and Neil Cohn, Republican Jack Whittle and Ron Corwin of the Coalition for Westport Party.

For the Zoning Board of Appeals, the candidates are Democrats Josh Newman and Amy Wistreich.


District 1

In Voting District 1, the candidates for the Representative Town Meeting are Liz Milwe, Abby Tolan, Matthew Mandell, Chris Tait, Kristin Mott Purcell and Rick Jaffe. Voters can choose up to four.


District 2

In Voting District 2, the candidates for the Representative Town Meeting are Jay Keenan, Harris Falk, Louis Mall and Christine Meiers Schatz. Voters can choose up to four.


District 3

In Voting District 3, the candidates for the Representative Town Meeting are Mark Friedman, Arline Gertzoff, Ross Burkhardt, Jimmy Izzo and Don O'Day. Voters can choose up to four.


District 4

In Voting District 4, the candidates for the Representative Town Meeting are Andrew Colabella, James Bairaktaris, Noah Hammond and Jeffrey Wieser. Voters can choose up to four.


District 5

In Voting District 5, the candidates for the Representative Town Meeting are Peter Gold, Dick Lowenstein, Karen Kramer and Claudia Shaum. Voters can choose up to four.


District 6

In Voting District 6, the candidates for the Representative Town Meeting are Candace Banks, Seth Braunstein, Jessica Bram and Cathy Talmadge. Voters can choose up to four.


District 7

In Voting District 7, the candidates for the Representative Town Meeting are Brandi Briggs, Jack Klinge, Ellen Lautenberg Hendel and Lauren Karpf. Voters can choose up to four.


District 8

In Voting District 8, the candidates for the Representative Town Meeting are Wendy Goldwyn Batteau, Lisa Newman, Stephen Shackelford and Rachel Steel Cohn.


District 9

In Voting District 9, the candidates for the Representative Town Meeting are Clark Thiemann, Sal Liccione, Kristin Schneeman, Marla Cowden, Lori Church and Nancy Kail.
