Westport Downtown Building Fire Quickly Extinguished

The downtown building houses a Starbucks and firefighters from Norwalk and Wilton assisted in fighting the fire.

WESTPORT, CT - Quick work by firefighters limited damage to a Post Road East building downtown that also houses a Starbucks late Saturday.

The fire broke out around 10 p.m. in Westport. When firefighters arrived they saw an active fire on the roof of a two-story commercial building, said Assistant Fire Chief Brian Meadows in a news release.

Numerous fire crews from Westport along with the Wilton and Norwalk fire departments battled the blaze. Westport Police who controlled traffic to the area. Firefighters climbed to the roof of the building to extinguish the fire.

"The quick work of the firefighters on scene to extinguish the fire kept the damage limited to the rooftop HVAC equipment involved and there was no fire extension into the attic of the building. The Westport Fire Department’s Fire Marshalls Office investigated the incident," Meadows said.
