Westport Police Plan Seat Belt Enforcement Effort

How often do you wear your seat belt?

WESTPORT, CT - Members of the Westport Police Department will conduct seat belt enforcement details in town from beginning next week and encompassing Memorial Day Weekend, according to officials.

"In an effort to promote safe driving and increased protection of all motorists, the Westport Police Department will be vigorously enforcing the state’s seat belt as well as child restraint laws and will be issuing citations to those who are not in compliance," said Lt. Anthony Prezioso in a statement.

According to state police, not wearing a seat belt while operating a motor vehicle, or not wearing one while sitting in the front passenger seat, carries a $92 fine for the operator in Connecticut.
