Westport Volunteer EMS Accepting Applicants for EMT Course

The in-person class is led by veteran instructors who provide life-saving skills from basic bandaging to multi-system trauma care.

WESTPORT, CT — Westport Volunteer Emergency Medical Service is currently accepting applications for its upcoming Emergency Medical Technician course, which is scheduled to begin on Feb. 25.

Veteran WVEMS instructors will lead the EMT course, and aims to provide students with essential life-saving skills. Topics covered range from basic bandaging to childbirth and multi-system trauma care. This hands-on, in-person class is designed to ensure students are fully prepared to respond effectively to emergencies as part of an EMS team in the future.

"Our curriculum and instructors maximize their time to assure that students will be the best prepared to save lives in Westport as future volunteers," said WVEMS President Jaime Bairaktaris.

The course attracts students from various backgrounds and with differing levels of experience, and is open to individuals from across Fairfield County. They learn together how to save lives and prepare to volunteer with Westport's EMS team.

Spots for the class are being filled quickly by local adults, according to Bairaktaris. These individuals are seeking a meaningful way to serve their neighbors and acquire life-saving skills.

Volunteering in Westport has been a local tradition since 1979, and the tradition will continue with those who sign up for this training.
