6th Grader’s Fundraiser Yields Generous Donation to Wilton Food Pantry

What began as a Christmas wish and followed by an online fundraiser by Alexis Capelle, a 6th grader at Middlebrook School, culminated in the presentation of a check for $530.00 to the Wilton Food Pantry.

Alexis presented the check last week, as well as an additional $50.00 worth groceries and household items, to Lauren Hughes, senior-services coordinator and overseer of the Wilton Food Pantry.

“The generosity of the community was amazing,” says Alexis.  “I was really surprised by the number of donations.  I felt so much support and received a lot of nice emails.”

Alexis noted that when she was at the Food Pantry last week, she noticed a need for coffee, laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid and paper products.  Toiletries are also always needed.

“I really enjoy helping others and making a difference.  I want other kids to know that they can do the same – we can make things happen,” says Alexis.
