Accident and Hallucinogens Yield Young Wiltonian $10k Bond

Bonds set at $10,000 are not a common thing in Wilton. Then again, neither is crashing your car near your home while under the influence and in possession of serious narcotics.

Kyle Levy, 21, of Linden Tree Rd. in Wilton was involved in a one-car motor vehicle accident near his home at 280 Linden Tree Rd. on Sept. 15. A subsequent police investigation revealed that the accused was suspected of operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Police would not say which substance Levy was suspected of using. However, upon searching his vehicle, they discovered a bag of what appeared to be narcotic mushrooms. Wilton Police Captain John Lynch said the mushrooms have been sent to a lab for testing.

Lynch said police also discovered a small quantity of marijuana and two separate devices for grinding marijuana in the car. He added that bond was set at a high number "because of the suspected narcotics," and to ensure that Levy would attend his Sept. 27 court date.

Levy was released after posting the $10,000 bond. He was charge with DUI, failure to drive upon the right on a curve, and possession of marijuana, hallucinogens and drug paraphernalia.
