An Historical Fall Hike

Quarry Head State Park is easy to miss.

It's set well back from Ridgefield Road and marked only by a wooden sign with yellow lettering that blends into the wooded background of the streetscape.

But for as unassuming as its entrance may be, the park is full of great history and hiking. It used to be the site of Wilton's most notable rock quarry (hence the name) and evidence of that past can be found throughout its many miles of trails.

The last day of summer is not a bad time to look toward fall and with that cool, colorful season comes perhaps the year's best time for hiking. There are few spots in town better suited for an autumn hike.
