Boucher Extends Heartfelt Thank You to Voters

I would like to thank the voters of all the towns of the 26th State Senate district for their vote on November 2.  The overwhelming display of confidence has touched me deeply.  I never forget that holding public office is a rare privilege afforded to very few.  It is not about the person holding that office, but about serving those who place their trust in us. It is foremost about listening and representing their interests and making sure everyone is heard, whether you agree with their position or not.  I will, therefore, work vigorously on your behalf and continue to make sure your voice is faithfully represented in Hartford.  

I would also like to thank the outstanding members of an all-volunteer army from each of our seven towns who worked so hard and contributed in so many different ways to this campaign.  They can be proud that our campaign returned every negative campaign tactic with only positive communications, never once mentioning the opposition.  Our pro-business and taxpayer message resonated with the voters and produced a decisive 61% to 31% win.  

My greatest reward, however, is the countless relationships between old and new friends that have further blessed my life, a life that is rich in family and community.  I give special thanks to my very patient children and particularly my husband, who supported and sustained me throughout the entire campaign.  I would also like to recognize my co-workers in my private sector job, whose steadfast support is vital to my ability to effectively represent my district.  We should all thank Governor M. Jodi Rell, a heroine, who stepped in at a low point in Connecticut's political history and has worked tirelessly under overwhelming odds to keep our ship of state afloat. She has been a true friend of our district over the years, especially its commuters. We owe her a debt of gratitude.  

Although this has been a long challenging race, there is much more difficult work ahead of us.  The people of CT have asked us to have the courage and the will to make the difficult but responsible decisions to revive the economic vitality of our state.  With your support and in partnership with our newly elected Governor and representatives from both sides of the political aisle we must do just that.
