Coronavirus Wilton: Schools Begin Distance Learning Program
Students who do not have computers at home may request access to a device from the school district.
WILTON, CT — Wilton students begin a distance learning program today, as public schools anticipate remaining closed at least through March 20.
For students in grades three through 12, plans will be posted by teachers using Google Classroom per the schedule communicated by each building principal. Students in prekindergarten through second grade will be provided with bags of resources, with instructions from their teachers.
Students in grades five through eight have taken their Chromebooks and chargers home in order to access the online resources. Students in third and fourth grade and ninth through 12th grade will use their home computers. Those students who do not have access to a computer are being advised to fill out an "Access to Device" form.

Teachers will be available 1-2 days per week depending on their role, according to the district's website. During that time, teachers will respond to emails, provide feedback and post additional content to their Google Classroom. In addition, there may be check-ins using Google Hangout/Meet if needed. Classwork will be monitored by the teacher but not graded.
"We recognize that eLearning cannot replicate onsite learning, however, through this plan, our teachers can use the tools available to them to engage students in standards-based content, skills practice and prevention of learning loss," officials posted. "We will continue to reevaluate the quickly evolving health crisis situation while retooling this plan to adapt to our students' needs which may include moving to a more robust distance learning plan based on the length of the school closure."
