Democratic Candidates to Hold Joint Campaign Event in Wilton

WILTON, CT -- Three Democratic State Assembly candidates, each seeking to represent part or all of Wilton, will hold a joint campaign kickoff event in town on July 28. Will Haskell, candidate for the 26th Senate District, Ross Tartell, candidate for the 125th House district, and Stephanie Thomas, candidate for the 143rd House district, are planning a day of canvassing and phone banking to kick off their campaigns’ presence in Wilton.

In addition, The Wilton Democratic Town Committee has announced it is endorsing Democratic candidate for Governor Ned Lamont, who will also be joining this weekend’s kickoff event.

“Like our nation, Wilton is at a crossroads,” Ross Tartell, Democratic Candidate for State Representative of the 125th District, remarks. “Everyone I meet is disappointed in what we see in Hartford. How can we better manage and lead Connecticut in these challenging times? When we can find common ground in Hartford, we can unlock hidden opportunities to better serve our communities. This is how we get our state back on the path to success.”

“In 2016, Wilton residents voted for Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump by 22 percentage points,” notes State Senate candidate Will Haskell, who is opposing Republican incumbent Toni Boucher. “I think Wilton residents recognize that the GOP is changing, both nationally and in Connecticut, and that the Republican party may no longer represent Wilton’s values.”

“I am running because the values we hold dear are under attack and I want to build a positive future for our community based on those principles,” states Stephanie Thomas, who petitioned onto the ballot to challenge incumbent Gail Lavielle. “With fiscal responsibility as our compass and Democrats representing those values, we can work together to keep Connecticut the great place we love and a great place to stay.”

The "Day of Action" is one part of a coordinated effort by each campaign and the Wilton Democratic Town Committee to elect Democratic representatives to the statehouse this November.
