DUI Checkpoint Friday Night

Drunk driving is never a good idea. But do it on Friday while you're heading through Wilton, and you'll really be asking for it.

The Wilton Police Department will be setting up a DUI checkpoint starting on Friday evening and extending into Saturday morning on Danbury Road. The Westport Police Department will be assisting in the effort.

Police said signage will be posted in the area advising of the checkpoint.

Around 75 percent of the expense for placing the officers at the checkpoint will be covered by a special grant. The grant is part of a state and national DUI enforcement program during Labor Day weekend.
