Earl Approaches

Hurricane Earl's on his way, bags packed at present with 105 mph winds. By the time he reaches Connecticut on Friday evening, his bags will be a bit lighter.

As of 2 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, a tropical storm warning is in effect for lower Fairfield County for "marine interests," read: flooding concerns, according to the National Weather Service. Earl's eye is expected to pass 150 miles east of Montauk Point, call it 200 miles from Wilton, at some point Friday night. At present he is headed NNE at 18 mph.

While the worst of Earl's wrath is likely already over, he may still pack some punch. The NWS forecast is calling for heavy showers and winds around 25 mph, which if earlier windstorms this summer are any indication, can certainly pose a threat to elecricity, if not residents' lives.
