Wilton Playshop Features Steel Magnolias

$25 Adam Broderick gift card to all attendees on opening night - Friday, May 18!

Featuring Carol Shwidock as Truvy, Sarah Smegal as Annelle, Katy Castaldi as Shelby, Lesli Allen as M’Lynn, Nancy Sinacori as Ouiser and Annalisa DiNucci as Clairee, Steel Magnolias revolves around Truvy’s Beauty Parlor in modern-day Louisiana. The story of a close-knit circle of friends who gather there, the play is filled with humor and heartbreak as these “steel magnolias” make us laugh and cry as the realities of their lives in tiny Chiquapin Parish unfold.

The production is directed by Meredith Walker and produced by Janice Dehn with Stephen Jarrett as stage manager. Set design by Dave Cunningham and lighting by Susan Kinkade.

The May 20th matinee will be an open caption performance. This will be the 25th Playshop theatrical production for those with hearing loss and the 10th open captioned event. Open captioning is provided by Access Communications, LLC of Guilford. With the aid of a portable unit, captioning appears in red letters on a small digital screen that is positioned at the front of the theater.  Scrolled manually in synchronization with the dialogue, the script is entered in advance of the performance, and the captions will appear with no time delay or transcription errors during the show. Alan Gould, Open Captioned Coordinator, is appreciative that this special performance is being sponsored by The Children's Hearing Institute of New York, The Michael Cippoletti Family, Dr. Priscilla Wilder, Audiologist, The Hearing Loss Association of America, Southwestern CT Chapter, and Friends of The Wilton Playshop.  A reception will follow this special performance.
