The federal government has approved Governor Lamont’s request for an Individual Assistance (IA) disaster declaration for all three Counties, Fairfield, New Haven and Litchfield, related to the August 18, 2024 flooding event. With this I.A. disaster declaration approved, the Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster loan program is also activated for those counties.
Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster. Funding for hazard mitigation measures has also been authorized to be implemented statewide.
