Fire Log: Serious Car Fire on Cannon Road

An intense car fire forces the fire department to knock down a neighbor's fence to fight the flames.

Monday, September 6, 2010

  • 3:30 AM: Spruce Drive, lock out.  FD personnel gained access into a home for a resident who was locked out.
  • 7:58 AM: Hurlbut Street, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 11:52 AM; River Road, fire alarm.  Apparent malfunction of the alarm system, no fire or hazards present.
  • 1:15 PM: Kensett Avenue, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 5:30 PM: Hearthstone Lane, brush fire.  Report of a brush fire, upon arrival resident had knocked down most of the fire with his garden hose.   FD personnel extinguished the remaining fire, and dug a lien around the burned area.  Source of fire determined to be improperly disposed of ashes.

Tuesday, Sept. 7

  • 5:38 PM: Danbury Road, fire alarm. Accidental activation of the alarm system, no fire or hazards present.
  • 6:45 PM: Westport Road, lock out.  FD personnel gained access into a home for a resident who was locked out.
  • 8:17 PM: Horseshoe Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care and assisted EMS and paramedic.

  • 8:09 AM: Hurlbutt Street, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 9:21 AM: Graenest Ridge Road, fire alarm.  Apparent malfunction of the alarm system, no fire or hazards present.
  • 12:07 PM: Charter Oak Drive, fire alarm. Accidental activation of the alarm system, no fire or hazards present.
  • 9:39 PM: River Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care and assisted EMS and paramedic.

Thursday, Sept. 9

  • 9:48 AM: Belden Hill Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 2:14 PM: Old Boston Road, fire alarm. Accidental activation of the alarm system, no fire or hazards present.
  • 4:30 PM: Holly Hock Lane, arching wires.  Upon investigation, FD personnel found evidence of a tree branch coming in contact with a electrical wires, but no arching was observed.  CL&P notified of the location.
  • 5:08 PM: Sturges Ridge Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 10:32 PM: Danbury Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care and assisted EMS and paramedic.

  • 7:45 AM: Topfield Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 4:30 PM: River Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 7:37 PM: Cannon Road, vehicle fire.   Upon arrival FD personnel found a well involved car in a drive way.  As firefighters began to head up the drive way heat and flames from the fire caused the electrical wires to burn through and fall on to drive way.  FD personnel had to take down neighbor's fence and attack fire from the neighbor's yard.  Vehicle was a total loss, cause of fire in under investigation.
  • 20:00 PM: Ridgefield Road, fire alarm. Accidental activation of the alarm system, no fire or hazards present.

  • 8:30 AM: Danbury Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 10:45 AM: Gound Pine Road, fire alarm. Apparent malfunction of the alarm system, no fire or hazards present.
  • 1:02 PM: Danbury Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 1:45 PM: Warncke Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care and assisted EMS and paramedic.

Sunday, Sept. 12

  • 1:45 AM: River Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 3:58 AM: River Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care and assisted EMS and paramedic.

Monday, Sept. 13

  • 10:09 AM: Danbury Road, fire alarm. Accidental activation of the alarm system, no fire or hazards present.
  • 2:38 PM: Old Ridgefield Road, fire alarm. Accidental activation of the alarm system, no fire or hazards present.
  • 6:15 PM: Powder Horn Hill Road, good intent.  Report of a utility pole on fire, area checked nothing found.
