Four Spots Still Up For Grabs in FCIAC Girls Basketball Playoff Race
Wilton, Norwalk, Stamford and Fairfield Warde have a chance to clinch playoff spots on Monday

With just two games remaining in the regular season, four spots are still up grabs in the FCIAC girls basketball playoff race.
Danbury (16-0), Trumbull (14-2), St. Joseph (13-3) and Trinity Catholic (12-5) have clinched playoff berths, and Danbury can lock up the top seed with a win over defending FCIAC champion Trumbull at home on Monday.
That leaves eight teams -- Wilton (11-5), Norwalk (11-5), Fairfield Warde (10-6), Stamford (10-6), Darien (9-7), Staples (9-7), Westhill (8-8) and New Canaan (8-8) -- fighting for the last four spots.

If everything breaks right, the entire eight-team playoff field could be determined by the conclusion of Monday's games.
Since Darien and Staples can only max out at 11 victories, Wilton and Norwalk need only one win to book their playoff tickets.

However, Wilton has a tough game at home against Trinity Catholic (7 p.m.) while Norwalk figures to have little trouble at home against Bridgeport Central (5:45 p.m.).
In the biggest game of the night, Darien entertains Fairfield Warde at 7 p.m.. Coming off a 52-32 loss to Stamford on Friday, the Blue Wave needs a win to stay alive. A loss will eliminate Darien from FCIAC playoff consideration.
Warde can clinch a playoff berth with a win over Darien coupled with a Staples' loss at Greenwich (5:30 p.m.). Stamford can get it with a win and losses by Darien and Staples. However, the Black Knights have a tough contest at home against St. Joseph (5:30 p.m.).
New Canaan and Westhill are still alive mathematically, but they need a ton of help.
If the playoff field isn't settled on Monday, the biggest game on Wednesday would be Stamford at Fairfield Warde. In other games Wednesday, Staples visits Ridgefield and Darien is at Bassick.
If Wilton doesn't clinch Monday, the Warriors would have another shot at Bridgeport Central on Wednesday. And if Norwalk somehow falls to the Hilltoppers, the Bears might have to win at Westhill on Wednesday.
The top four seeds will host quarterfinal games on Saturday.
