Wilton Voters Approve Budget, Pickleball Courts In Annual Town Meeting Vote

The proposed pickleball courts and turf field replacement drew some of the strongest opposition in the referendum.

WILTON, CT — Wilton voters approved the town budget and a series of capital projects during this week’s annual town meeting referendum, according to unofficial results released by the registrars office.

The town operating budget passed with 1,122 votes in favor and 413 opposed under the “too high” option.

Voters also approved multiple bonding requests tied to road work, school repairs and recreation projects that town officials previously proposed as part of the Fiscal Year 2027 budget plan.

Among the approved projects were:

  • $2 million for road restoration
  • $2.9 million for a Cider Mill School roof replacement
  • $2.7 million for Middlebrook School exterior repairs
  • $1.36 million to restore the historic Yellow House at Ambler Farm
  • $300,000 to construct four outdoor pickleball courts

The pickleball court proposal drew some of the strongest opposition in the referendum, ultimately passing 1,008-638. A turf field replacement project was approved by a 1,192-458 margin.

Town officials previously said the projects were intended to address infrastructure needs, improve school facilities and expand recreational offerings in town.

According to the results, 1,659 ballots were cast out of 12,505 eligible voters, representing turnout of about 13.3 percent.
