Intoxicated Woman Arrested Trying to Pick Up Her Child: PD
Police say they had to break through the passenger side window because she refused to comply.

WILTON, CT -- Police arrested a Monroe, NY, woman last Wednesday for DUI after she led them on a chase through Wilton.
Officers responded to a 3:30 p.m. call from the Goddard School at 385 Danbury Road for a report about an intoxicated parent tying to pick up her child from the school. Goddard workers had refused to release the child to the woman, and instead called the Wilton PD.
When the police arrived, they were informed the woman had already left the parking lot and was heading south on Kristine Lilly Way in a black VW Jetta. Officers attempted to set up a traffic stop at the intersection of Kristine Lilly Way and School Road, but the Jetta sped around it. The car came to a stop in traffic at the intersection of School Road and and Danbury Road, while other officers responding to the call were able to use their cars to box the Jetta in and prevent it from leaving.

The driver, Jolene Matthews, 41, of 4 Hillside Trail in Monroe, NY, refused to exit the vehicle, according to the police. Officers had to break through the driver's side window and turn off the car. Matthews was then removed from the car and detained.
Police say there was a "heavy odor of an alcoholic beverage" on Matthews' breath, and that she showed several signs of intoxication. The police report also indicates they found a plastic bladder containing wine and a coffee cup containing wine inside her vehicle.
