Ladies' Soirée On Its Way

Bright, warm, welcoming sunflowers mark the design aesthetic for Wilton Library's eleventh annual Ladies' Soirée, which takes place on Thursday, Sept. 30 from 7 to 9 p.m.

According to Lelei Coyle, one of the four chairpersons for the event, "Sunflowers are so much fun and inviting...just the way we want out ladies night out to be."

The evening of hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, live music by the Darren Litzie Trio, a silent auction and good company promises that and more. Priscilla Thors, another chair, noted, "This is such an important event for the library and the women of the community; we want to make it as enjoyable as possible - sunflowers just set the tone - welcoming everyone back from the summer."

Susan Cramer and Kimberly Johnson are the two other event coordinators. All four ladies have chaired these soiree fundraisers for three years as a seasoned team, working through the summer on details from decorations to auction items, from signature drinks to delicious hors d'oeuvres. This year adding to the festivities are two Emmy award-winning bartenders - Bucky Gunts and Mark Lyons.

In reference the silent auction, Cramer said, "We have wonderful items that make perfect gifts for family, friends, or even a personal indulgence."

Some of the silent auction offerings are spa treatments, exercise classes, personal training classes, home decorating services, children's photographic portraits, jewelry, and a return of the much-adored neighborhood gift baskets.

"And if people aren't able to get anything through the silent auction, there's always the Giving Tree with items that the library really needs," added Johnson.

The evening's festivities also include fortune-telling by the library Madame Lesley, and Henna tattooing by two specialists. Proceeds from the event benefit the programs, services, and technologies that the library strives to provide to a deserving community, enhancing the library's ability to "inform, inspire, enrich and connect all those who pass through [its] doors."

Tickets for the fundraiser are $50 per person and can be purchased at the circulation desk of the library, online at the library's website, or by calling Anne Rowlands at 203-762-3950 ext. 216. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door, so the coordinators suggest advance purchase as the best option.
