Lady Warriors Brave Wet Weekend

The WHS girls cross country team finished ninth in a 30-team field at the New England Cross Country Championships, and the WHS girls swim team did well at qualifying.

You could have easily mistaken the WHS girls cross country team for swimmers this weekend, as both teams finished their Saturday races drenched and successful.

The girls cross country team competed in the New England Championships at Wickham Park and finished ninth overall out of 30 teams. Julia Broach paced the Warriors, finishing 60th out of the 263-person field in a time of 20:31. Torrential downpours left the 5km course in sad shape, but the team still ended its season with a strong showing to add to its CIAC championship.

Meanwhile, the WHS girls swim team competed against 18 other teams in qualifying for Tuesday's Divisional Finals at Southern Connecticut State University. The team swam well at Saturday's competition in Greenwich and the complete results are available here.
